30 Days of Night Reel Review
In a small town in Alaska, once a year 30 days of night happen to occur. During this time a stranger comes to town and sneaks around cutting off the towns power supply, transportation and communication. Josh Harnett stars as the movie’s main character portraying a police officer who is trying to figure out why this is all happening. Soon, locals start to disappear, their dogs slain and their loved ones go missing. With nothing but a blood trail to follow, Harnett and a few others soon come face to face with Vampires. And I’m not talking the sexy seductive Brad Pitt type either. This is the Evil side. The Dark side that preys on Human flesh and blood and enjoys every minute of it. Their goal is to make every sadistic story and myth about them very real to the Human Species. Intelligent, fast and blood hungry they bite, slash and eat their way threw the entire town and it’s up to a few locals to last until the 30 days of night is over so that their story is told.
3 out of 5 stars
Although the ending reminded me of something out of a Blade movie, the movie was pretty original in showing the Evil side of Vampires. I enjoyed the gore and found that instead of sexy Vampires these were downright creepy looking and talked in a Native tongue with Long grotesque finger nails and blood soaked clothing. To a Horror movie Guru the movie is ‘eh’ but the Gore is pretty decent. To others that don’t mind the occasional scary flick every now and then, they will enjoy it. To those that have a fear of Vampires, I don’t suggest this one.
